Downsize your car to save some cash

March 3, 2009    Posted in: Debt Advice
Much of the country is looking for ways to save a few pennies at the moment – whether it’s shopping at cheaper outlets, swapping meals out for takeaways or renting a DVD instead of going to the cinema. Many households have decided to make a long-term commitment to saving money, by downsizing their family vehicle from a 4×4 to a smaller, more fuel efficient motor. In fact, Which? Car magazine has predicted that trading in your truck for a neat runaround will become a significant trend this year. Whilst the entire motor industry is feeling the pinch at the moment, high fuel consumption, taxes and expense to maintain and repair vehicles has seen the 4×4 market face significant decline. As well as costing less outright, choosing a smaller family vehicle will cut monthly fuel budgets – saving people hundreds of pounds further each year. More compact cars have other advantages too, like being easier to park in busier towns when you’re stopping to pick up that DVD and packet of fish and chips!
